Lets just dive right in.
There were, however, a couple of interesting reveals.
The good news was the companys new AI chips.

According to the supposed specifications and obligatory hyperbole, Teslas AI chips will be the worlds most powerful.
Its at least plausible that the AI team at Tesla could pull off such a feat.
It’s free, every week, in your inbox.

But lets talk about the Tesla robot.
TNWs Ivan Mehtacovered the announcement and all the machines specificationsearlier today.
Closing thoughts:Everybody wants this to be real.

We all wantRosie the Robotto be real.
But heres the truth laid bare: this is a hustle.
The Tesla Robot is Elon Musk at his PT Barnum-esque best.
Hes promising everything you want and daring you to dream along side him while he picks your pocket.
Okay, now that weve gotten that out of the way, allow me to explain why.
The kind of AI it would take to power a fully autonomous robot doesnt exist.
Rosie the aforementioned Robot, from the Jetsons, is not real.
Tesla claims that its going to build a robot with the same AI brain as its cars.
The robot would operate on a vision system using multiple cameras.
Nothing about that idea even comes close to the technology already in the space.
But lets continue anyway.
For crying out lout, it has humanesque hands and could be knocked over by a saloon door.
Its obvious the Tesla Robot is meant to appeal to consumers.
The design isnt meant to be functional, its meant to imbue us with warm, fuzzy hope.
Its just a lil bitty thing yall, cmon it cant hurt anybody!
Were supposed to look at it and imagine all the ways it could make our lives easier.
But the claims Musk makes about its future abilities are straight out of a Will Smith summer blockbuster.
just go to the store and get me the following groceries.
That kind of thing.
I think we can do that.
Thats not how AI works.
Just ask Boston Dynamics.
In a few years, that bot will move so fast youll need a strobe light to see it.
That puts Tesla about three decades behind the curve here.
But there isnt a robot in the world that can do that safely without training on the environment previously.
So what happens when the Tesla robot tries to do something it hasnt been explicitly trained on?
The exact same thing that happens when you ask Alexa or Siri to do something it cant.
A humanoid machine designed to do menial tasks sounds like a really stupid idea.
If its supposed to carry things, build it to look like a wheel-barrow.
If its supposed to do dangerous jobs, design it for the actual job.
This thing is only fit for work as a crash test dummy in its current iteration.
They dont come true.
He makes more promises.
If@Teslareleases a fully autonomous car, I’ll join@kaifuleeand@rodneyabrooksand eat it.
Just glance at the above tweet.
But that was yesterdays BS.
Its a new day, Musks got a new hustle, and its time for a new bet.
