Games have become a huge part of the internet too, from simple mobile games to complexMMORPGs.
People are spending an increasing amount of time watching other people play games online, too.
The ways in which people interface with the internet are changing too.

As a result, this years reports also include analysis of what were terming eligible penetration i.e.
social media use among adults aged 13 and above.
However, not all of that time is spent being sociable.

The platforms five-year growth chart looks pretty impressive too.

However, its not all good news in Menlo Park.

So, what about the purported mass Facebook exodus?
Perhaps even more worryingly for Facebook, the number of times people punch adverts on Facebook is also falling.
However, the advertising revenue figures reported in Facebooks latest earnings announcements continue to show steady growth.

So whats going on?
The rest of the list is dominated by musicians, sports teams and players, and actors.
Despite someleadership hurdlesin 2018, Instagram posted some strong numbers over the past 12 months.

Instagram is also popular in a number of countries where Facebook has struggled to gain traction against local favorites.
Just one consumer brand Nike makes Instagrams top 20 most-followed list, with the remaining spots dominated by celebrities.
These figures suggest that total visitors to Twitter.com are considerably more thandoublethe platforms total addressable advertising audience.

Snapchat
Snapchats latest numbers tell an even more worrying story than Twitters.
The story in Snapchats home market is less comforting, though.
Furthermore, unlike Twitter, theres little evidence in other data to hint at a remedy for Snapchats ails.

Fortunately, we return to good news in our analysis of LinkedIn.
LinkedIn has also seen strong growth across individual countries in recent months.
LinkedIn is also growing in many developed markets, despite starting from a strong base.

This figure brings worldwide mobile penetration to 67 percent more than two-thirds of the total global population.
However, we do have all the latest numbers for mobile connections around the world, thanks toGSMA Intelligence.

However, the picture varies from one extreme to the other across the globe.
Whats more, people are spending considerably more on apps too.
