Paradox Interactives highly-anticipatedgrand strategy titleVictoria 3is set to ship next year.
At the beginning of the game, a given nations historically accurate polices on slavery will be in effect.
It’s free, every week, in your inbox.

Up front:It needs to be said thatVictoria 3is not a slavery simulator.
Slaves can only work in certain types of building and manufacturing jobs are beyond their scope.
And you cant just choose the slavery civic to gain a blanket benefit to production either.

My take:Whew.
Ultimately, however, Im not sure if this is a good thing for gaming.
Maybe its a slippery slope.
I wont cop out here by saying Ill have to wait and see how its implemented.
I dont believe the implementation will matter when the game launches.
I trust that Paradox is trying to do this in good faith.
For many people, theres no right way to add slavery to a game like this.
And many others are going to dismiss the controversy outright.
As for me, Im biased.
Im a history buff who loves Paradoxs strategy games.
Im not ashamed to admit that Im even more interested inVictoria 3now than I was before.
And, right or wrong, that bothers me.
Shoulda game like this exist?
But I believe it should be allowed to.
