But its so much more to me: it gave me back my freedom.

Ive always loved all things thatgo.

I wanted to grow up to be a fighter pilot.

Juiced Bikes Camp Scrambler review: Fat tires and retro looks make this e-bike a winner

My first car was a Mustang.

I spent my military career riding in speed boats and helicopters.

Much like my fictional shipmate, Lt. Maverick from the movieTop Gun, I feelthe need for speed.

In the years since Ive relied on public transportation, friends, and eventually Uber and Lyft.

I dont miss being stuck in traffic, or dealing with terrible drivers.

But I do miss the control.

I can understand why so many people dont want to see traditional automobiles replaced by autonomous cars.

Riding a bicycle is difficult for me.

Some days Ive got the stamina to go bouncing through mud-puddles or gear through some hill-climbing.

Other days, pedaling to the end of the block wears me out.

The Camp Scrambler functions just like any other bicycle youve ridden.

You pedal, it goes.

It has seven-speed Shimano freewheel gears, you shift it by twisting the shifter while youre pedaling.

Shifting is simple and intuitive, theres no learning curve here even if youve never ridden a seven-speed before.

Everything about the Camp Scrambler is thoughtful.

Lets talk about the looks for a moment.

The difference here is, as I mentioned before, this design works for me in ways others cant.

This fatigues me fast.

Thats not to say this thing isnt spry.

You may not lean into it like a speed bike, but it has some serious pep.

The cadence-sensing is really cool.

The motor, and the Matrix LCD display control that you use to operate it, are phenomenal.

But when I first started using the bike they felt very fast and the acceleration was daunting.

It goes faster than you think a bicycle should, especially taking off from a dead stop.

Its also worth mentioning that this is a fat tire scrambler.

That means its perfectly suited for dirt roads and bumpy terrain.

In fact, it also has adjustable suspension.

Thankfully, with this bike, you’re able to.

Ive been getting about 25-45 miles between charges.

Obviously whether youre biking uphill for 10 miles or just cruising on sidewalks will also play a major role.

The bottom line is, just like a car, how you use it will determine your mileage.

Something you cant do with a car or motorcycle.

Charging the Camp Scrambler is a breeze.

Im so, so very thankful they went with a design that includes a removable battery.

But the ability to leave the bicycle in the garage while I charge the battery inside is huge.

This is common in e-bikes, but considering the Camp Scramblers laid-back aesthetic its worth mentioning here.

Another impressive feature of this e-bike is the 180 mm hydraulic disk brakes.

I freaking love the red frame with black accessories.

It also comes in black and silver, but the red looks faster.

The problem is that it lookstoogood.

I literally cannot go anywhere with it without someone trying to flag me down to talk about it.

The fact that the Camp Scrambler still turns heads here says something about it.

If youre the chatty pop in, this could be a good thing.

Youll certainly meet new people riding this e-bike if your experience is anything like mine.

I adore this bike.

I love its power, aesthetic, and the thoughtful design that went into it.

I rode the Camp Scrambler on the beach, in the rain, through puddles, and at night.

The bottom line is that the Camp Scrambler is everything I hoped itd be.

Its not just a well-designed piece of gear, its a product thats given me my life back.
