I woke up to very sad news this morning. One of my idols passed away. The great Jimmy Buffett. Now people who know me know Im not the most emotional human of all time. It was another mediocre week as I went 8-7-1 around Christmas weekend. During the season, my record was still terrible at 111-123-6. Thursday Night Two weeks ago, the Jets were shut out by the Dolphins. Last week, they had a good offensive showing against the Commanders, the worst defense in the league. Joe Flacco gets his revenge as Myles Garrett closes in on Defensive Player of the Year. Dallas is the only team that has not lost a home game in the NFL this season....
The New York Rangers simply cannot stop winning hockey games. Tops in the league in points percentage (.734). Jonathan Quick has been outstanding. Erik Gustafsson slid in seamlessly to hold it down while Fox was sidelined. Jimmy Vesey & Will Cuylle have contributed depth scoring from the bottom six. Even Blake Wheeler is finally chipping in offensively like we all had hoped. So I took to Twitter to see what was on the fans minds....

It was a year marred with controversy surrounding Parcells and Kraft over personnel decisions. It’s when Parcells famously said, “They want you to cook the dinner. At least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries.” After coaching the Super Bowl, Parcells resigned with one year remaining on his contract. Kraft wanted a better deal, but he accepted the terms. The following year that all changed… My youngest son Dylan is a football fan; my two other boys, not so much....
The Red Sox have signed one free agent all off-season. He’s a man named Cooper Criswell who has pitched in a total of 12 Major League games. He was signed to a 1 year/$1 million dollar contract. In their “defense”, they have made two trades since the season ended. They traded for Tyler O’Neill and traded away Alex Verdugo. O’Neill had one great season in 2021 and otherwise has been kind of lousy....

Our sport will, eventually, return to homeostasis. It wont always be so politically charged, so chaotic, so distinctly reminiscent of a soap opera. Those were simpler times. Not necessarily better or worse. The PGA Tour jacked up prize money with funds they didnt really have. LIV continued to hemorrhage money they definitely do have. Who the hell knows? The future remains a total and complete mystery. Nominees are in italics, winners in italics and bold....
How do things stack up? In the playoffs, of those 74, the Celtics have won 43 of them (58.1%). Then all of a sudden they count. Anyway, as you might see when it comes to Celtics/Lakers, this battle is pretty one sided. But last night wasn’t just about beating the Lakers (again). They are the only team in the top 10 seeds out West with a negative point differential. The reason last night was a big deal was what it meant for the overall West Coast trip....
Almost exactly six months ago on The Yak, we landed on Rone’s name wheel. It landed on Le Bernardin, which is a 3-star Michelin restaurant in NYC. That’s the highest rating possible. It’s also held that rating for decades and not dipped to 2-star [source: Francis Ellis]. So much so, that the dress code was a big change from our usual selves: Business casual. Jackets are recommended but not required....
