Being queer in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields can be exhausting.
And thats just the private sector.
Dont even get me started on academia and the government sector.

Tech isa dangerous, unwelcoming placefor queer people.
It’s free, every week, in your inbox.
Harassment, discrimination, and othering are all common issues queer people deal with.

In other words: Its demonstrably more physically and mentally dangerous to be queer in STEM.
Luckily theres a solution.
But its not perfect.
Im talking about remote work.
But I had no way of knowing that when I got hired.
But thats not reality.
Remote work solves a lot of the friction for queer people.
But, as mentioned, its not a perfect solution.
Worse, its unclear what remote work will ultimately mean for the workplace.
On the one hand, its clear that STEM is dangerous for queer people.
Remote work offers us the ability to face the fight on our own terms.
Remote work gives queer STEM workers options they may not otherwise have.
