A few months ago,Sonyreleased the most interesting earbuds Ive tested in years.
And by different, I mean theyre a pair of utterly normal earbuds.
But theyre verygoodnormal earbuds.

In fact, Id argue that for most people, theyre the best earbuds Sony sells.
Coming right after theWH-1000XM5headphones, Sony is on quite the roll.
The original LinkBuds are great, but they are absolutely not for everyone.

On the other hand, Sonys best noise-canceling earbuds, theWF-1000XM4, are quite pricey at $279.

What differentiates the LinkBuds S from most other headphones with a transparency mode is something called Adaptive Sound Control.

Basically, the headphones are able to switch sound modes depending on your environment and movements.
Start walking, for example, and the headphones automatically switch to ambient awareness mode.
Alternatively, it’s possible for you to also simply use one earbud at a time.

Unfortunately, Sonys controls are still just okay.
Sony didnt skimp on the sound quality either.
The LinkBuds S do share some of that sound signature, but its less aggressive to my ears.
The LinkBuds S comereallyclose to the WF-1000XM4 in this regard, which was best-in-class.
The biggest bummer about the LinkBuds S is probably their battery life.
They also dont have wireless charging, something I dont care about, but some people swear by it.
You may find headphones with comparable noise canceling, better sound quality, and better battery life.
