The company has actually beentestingdeterrents to password sharing for a few months now.

Although the company placed a lot of the blame on password sharing, thats not exactly a recent development.

Indeed, Netflix says the proportion of non-paying viewers hasnt changed much over the years.

It probably doesnt help that the companykeeps on raising prices.

Competitors which are often cheaper have good shows too.

Hastings has repeatedlydeniedspeculation of Netflix moving to an ad-supported model in years past.

Offering those who only want to watch Netflix occasionally a more affordable option strikes me as a good thing.

But Iampicky about image quality, so I still want to watch my favorite shows in glorious 4K.
