Yeah, no two ways about it, that Sunday Night Baseball game sucked.
A middle of the road Red Sox team showed up ready to play and ran circles around the Yankees.
No, they actually ran circles to the tune of a franchise record NINE stolen bases.
Really none of them were close either, although the Dom Smith one was insane.
He was begging to get caught in a rundown.
Couple things factored into this.
Stroman didn’t really care to hold a runner on to save his life when he was out there.
Trevino has the slowest velocity on throws down to second in the entire sport.
Trevi’s pop time isn’t all so great either.
Combine all that against a fast Sox team and you get some bases swiped.
Nine though, is crazy.
That shoots up every red flag you’re free to find.
Nine stolen bases is enough to usually end a dude’s career as a catcher.
You see that in little league when the coach’s son gets a make-a-wish start behind the dish.
This happening in a major league game was ugly.
Balls mighta been able to swipe one tonight if given the chance.
That’s the kind of issue that needs to get addressed now before it murders you in October.
When he won the gold glove he was at 33%.
On the year they’ve done a pretty good job of the whole operation.
Was it just a really weird night?
Did the pitchers do him in being that slow to the plate and rarely throwing over?
The Yankees are 50-24.
Swing and miss out of the pen is for sure one of those areas needing fixing.
Thankfully, that’s not difficult to find in the trade market.
I trust Blake and the front office to find a solution based on their track record.
Wouldn’t hurt if Scott Effross ever proved he was an alive human being either.
The infield is a bit of a mess.
He’s in a lot of pain and now getting imaging on the lower part of his arm.
DJ LeMahieu hasn’t really showed any signs that he can be a factor offensively.
Ahead 3-0, he took two fastballs down broadway before chasing a sweeper for out number one.

Outside of Volpe, the whole infield could use addressing at the deadline.
There’s not a lot of hope when those guys' turns in the order come up.
A wake up call for a very good team is never a bad thing.

You’re not going to get through 162 games without a rut.
Look at the Dodgers today losing Mookie Betts and Yamamoto for lengthy periods of time.
This shit is a miserable grind that we all sign up for with stupid smiles on our faces.
Losing these two in Boston can hopefully serve as that wake up call.
Still a bit early to be standings watching, but it’s a reality.
Got the off-day on Monday before a massive series in The Bronx with Baltimore.
Gerrit Cole might be returning on Wednesday if they decide to cut him loose.
There’s still a ton of good here, but don’t be too distracted by their amazing record.
The Yankees will need to be aggressive at the deadline if ring number 28 is coming home.
The Sox should have a better record than they do.
