It seems for the first time maybe ever that Scott Boras overplayed his hand and completely screwed his clients.
Just doesn’t happen.
Father time is undefeated and comes for everyone, apparently even sports agents.

Okay that statement is a tad misleading.
Still, crazy he has to do that on March 18th!
Now I’d be remiss to not mention why teams are scared to sign Snell.

-First of all he’s on the wrong side of 30, which will always bring hesitation from clubs.
-He also walks a ton of batters, leading the whole league in 2023.
-Snell has never thrown 200 innings in a single season.

While those are pretty glaring red flags, he’s still the REIGNING CY YOUNG WINNER.
This guy led the league in ERA, ERA+, and fewest hits allowed per 9.
You’d think someone would pony up, but no one is budging.
Boras has been chasing a $200M+ offer for Snell all offseason, but hasn’t come remotely close.
The same thing can be said with his Cody Bellinger/Matt Chapman negotiations.
The Yankees reportedly offered Snell 6 years/$150M earlier in the offseason before pivoting to Stroman.
I was told on good authority that offer never happened and it was actually 5/$115M.
Regardless, the Yankees wanted nothing to do with Boras' demands.
Even after Cole’s injury scare the Yankees showed no interest in giving into the Snell desperation.
I get the vibe they’re spooked from the Rodon contract and how last year went about.
Not saying it’s right, but that’s their rationale.
So who else does that leave as suitors?
Boston would make sense given the Giolito injury.
Actually before the injury Snell seemed like a good fit.
Either him or Jordan Montgomery, but adding a real starting pitcher would appear like a must.
In theory short term is where teams would give in and go after Snell.
Then age doesn’t come into play really.
Nothing wrong with having a front-line 31 year old on your staff for two seasons.
At the start of the offseason he reportedly wanted 7 years, $200M.
Now you could get him 2/66?
That’s not even enough to budge teams???
That’s really when you know there’s no bite out there.
THIS is the Angels current rotation, and they’re not in on Snell.
This a team and ownership that gets off by spending money recklessly.
There’s also the Giants.
Adding Snell to the equation makes you a legit playoff contender.
Did I miss the boat where Snell is a closet serial killer and Monty is an on-the-run terrorist?
You sign them and instantly become better than you were the day before.
Snell and Montgomery getting zero traction this late into the offseason kinda proves that contract years are done with.
The result has left Scott Boras unexpectedly with his pants down.
Every day that passes I stop myself to remember that Snell and Montgomery still aren’t on a team.
The season starts in two days!
Gonna suck when Boras takes his anger out on the Yankees next year during the Soto negotiations.
