I spent the entire off-season shitting on the Red Sox for what I saw was a terrible off-season.

They let Xander Bogaerts go to the Padres and JD Martinez to the Dodgers.

I mocked GM Chaim Bloom for overpaying Masataka Yoshida.

Rumors were starting to bubble up that Bloom was on the hot seat.

They started off 5-8 and looked like a dumpster fire in full flame.

Not only have I been absolutely wrong but it’s time to throw some respect on the Red Sox.

The same Blue Jays who came into the series 18-10.

Yes, those Blue Jays who went to the playoffs last year.

So how are they doing this?

The starting rotation was my biggest issue with this team over the off-season.

It’s been really bad this year.

The entire pitching staff entering Thursday had a 4.93 ERA which is 12th in the American League.

Are they being really bad at the right times?

I honestly have no clue.

This rotation is everything I thought that they would be…and they are still winning.

This Red Sox team can mash the ball.

They were 2nd in the American League in home runs entering Thursday.

Rafael Devers is having trouble getting on base this year but has led the team with 10 home runs.

Imagine how much better this offense can be if he really gets going?

In fact, no one in the infield has an OBP of over .309.

But that outfield is legit.

The “overpaid” Yoshida?

He’s hitting .303/.391/.515.

Alex Verdugo, who I saw as a fourth outfielder on a very good team?

Clutch hit after clutch hit and he’s looking like an All-Star.

JARREN DURAN IS HITTING .400!

It’s easy to look at this team and see the reasons they shouldn’t be winning.

Many players are overperforming.

But a lot of guys on this team are underperforming.

Rafael Devers will get that OBP above .300 in no time.

Adam Duvall, who has only played 8 games due to a wrist injury will return soon as well.

Maybe they can get Lucas Giolito from the White Sox?

Bring back Eduardo Rodriguez from the Tigers?

They just annihilated the Blue Jays.

The Yankees are a mess with Aaron Judge, Carlos Rodon and Giancarlo Stanton hurt.

The Astros haven’t kicked it into gear yet and lost two starting pitchers due to injury this week.

The Red Sox are on a 6 game winning streak and stand at 19-14.

They’ve got the Phillies next this weekend and they’ve lost four in a row.
