Make it personal

Companies dont want to hear that youre looking for a job.

They want to hear that youre looking for their job.

Two good places to start are the companys mission and values.

This piece could be large or small.

Company values are another useful place to look.

They give you a good sense of a companys culture and what they celebrate in their own employees.

Its also easier than you might think to translate their values into your motivations.

Consider your past

Its no secret that interviewers love an example from your professional history.

What was happening at work to make you so excited?

Why are you working towards your dream job?

Once you do a little digging, youre sure to discover your underlying motivations beneath.

Dont forget nonverbal communication

Talking about your passions in a monotone voice isnt very convincing.

But if youre in a bad mood at an interview, it has much more of an impact.

So stay engaged and show them the best side of you.
